The T1 is the transit document used under the Common Transit Convention for movements between EU member states, EFTA countries and Türkiye; it lets goods travel with customs duties suspended. Since 2005 the procedure has run through the electronic NCTS system. What Is a T1 Transit Document?
Under a T1, the vehicle travels uninterrupted to the country of destination. The document carries the critical details — the transit countries on the route, the customs office of destination and the exit border gate. Even a small mismatch in those details can leave a truck standing at the border and delay delivery. That is why every T1 we prepare is checked line by line against the route, destination customs office and exit gate, and no document enters processing before your approval. Common Transit Authorisation
The common transit procedure applies between the EU countries party to the 1987 Common Transit Convention and EFTA countries such as Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; Türkiye is also a contracting party. Operating through NCTS requires a guarantee arrangement: an individual guarantee, or a comprehensive guarantee covering multiple operations, secures any customs debt that may arise. Applying for a T1 Authorisation
The application is made on the form annexed to the Turkish Customs Regulation, together with a file that includes criminal record certificates for company partners and board members, the past year's list of transit operations, specimen signatures of the company officers and a tax clearance letter. We stand with you in assembling the complete file; we work in coordination with the agency we route the work to and stay in constant contact with every party in their own language throughout.
